'She's Jack Bouvier's daughter'

That's how Henri describes Lise to Adam, after showing Adam her picture.

Fact is: Jack Bouvier was a real person - "Black Jack" in fact.

He was Jackie O's father (half-Irish and half-French).

Probably no one today recognizes that name.

I wonder how many caught that reference back in 1951.

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

I doubt it was a sly reference to Jackie Kennedy's father at all. Jackie and her family weren't internationally known outside of New England high society until after her marriage to JFK in 1953.

The fact of the matter is "Jack" is a common given name and "Bouvier" is a common surname in France.

reply

Her father is Jacques Bouvier, not Jack.
