Did anyone see the stage version?

It's one of the rare instances where a stage musical production was based on a classic Hollywood musical film, rather than the other way around.

I enjoyed the live show immensely.

I thought it was truly awful, completely drained of any joy or life. Luckily, I am a theater volunteer and didn't have to pay to see it.

But, why they messed around with the story, added all the background character drama, and staged such listless versions of what are among the greatest musical numbers in either stage or film musical history, is beyond imagination.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

I am glad that you liked it! For me, though, I just did not get the stage production at all.

On further reflection, my viewpoint on this shifted more toward yours.

reply

Yeah, it was quite bad, in my opinion. I had formerly volunteered for doing lots of Broadway shows. But, with stuff like this, I do almost none of them.
