Calamity Jane or Annie Get Your Gun

I vote Calamity. It mixes song, dance, drama, romance(ugh) and comedy.

Annie Get Your Gun is OK, but it's a bit corny and too soppy.

What do you think?

Calamity Jane!! 100%. =)

"Annie" has a far superior score (with the exception of "Secret Love" which is timelessly beautiful.

But the film and cast of "Calam" are much better than "Annie".

I vote "Jane"!

As someone else said, Annie Get Your Gun has the superior score, but both have solid stories and well-developed characters. I think as far as story and acting go, they're equally good; however, if we're strictly comparing the 1950 film version of Annie Get Your Gun to Calamity Jane, I'd have to say that Calamity Jane is a better film, because 1950 film version of "Annie" falls far short of the original stage production.

I liked both but as much as I love Doris and thought this was maybe her best performance I was completely captivated by Betty Hutton and also because it does have the better songs I'll be first to say Annie gets my vote.

i love them both cos of howard keel <3 but im a bigger dorris day fan than a betty hutton so calamity jane wins it first hand
I love... I love... I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on"

Calam, no question about it. I fast forwarded through a lot of Annie Get Your Gun because I was just so disgusted by her constant fawning over Keel's character. Annie is not a heroine in any sense of the word - everything she does revolves around this guy. And don't even get me started on the ending. Aside from the score, which I agree is overall better in Annie, I think Calamity is better by far. Yeah, there are sexist undertones in Calamity but they're nowhere near as ridiculously overt as in Annie. It's so much more endearing, and the romantic storyline is 500% more convincing when the heroine actually has a backbone and an interesting personality.
wow I got a bit carried away there... hahaha sorry, watching Annie Get Your Gun just kind of pissed me off :P

Annie Get Your Gun has better music, and I loved it all----until the end. Such an annoying ending! Way to undercut your heroine there! Hated it!

So in the end, despite the scene where Jane gets humiliated (which I've always hated), I would rather watch Calamity Jane any day of the week instead of Annie Get Your Gun (and lose all your pride and sense of self)

There's something here that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick.-The Doctor

Hm I saw Calamity Jane first so it wins points, and while I do lille both I prefer Dorus Day to Betty Hutton. Plus I think that this movie hang as over the top- it is a bit but not too much lol
