Williams College fight song as ship hits the iceberg?

The song "Yard by Yard", the Williams College fight song, is the last song heard, just as the trouble begins. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Yard_by_Yard gives the lyrics.

I am looking for a clue to explain this "honor".

And, what is the music played by the trumpeter to announce dinner is served?
I feel like I heard Cary Grant sing it in Gunga Din.

Kisskiss, Bangbang

The song played by the trumpeter is called "The Roast Beef of Old England".

Using a bugler to announce dinner by playing that tune was a practice of the White Star Line. The tune is also played by the Royal Navy and at certain dinners held by the United States Marine Corps.

The original song was written by Henry Fielding in 1731. New music for the lyrics was written by Richard Leveridge in 1748, and this is the tune used since.

Go to YouTube and do a search for "The Roast Beef of Old England". There are several versions, including a full chorus singing all the stanzas. I believe Wikipedia also has an entry on it.

Charles Brackett, the film's producer and co-writer, was a 1915 graduate of Williams. Hence, this tribute to his alma mater.
