They changed some of the names, and they totally left out the Clifton Webb character, but it's essaentially the same story

No I'm not. I remember a first class girl falling in love with a first class student. Robert Wagner was a first class passenger traveling with his fellow class mates.
Maybe you're confused and thinking of the deleted sex scene between Clifton Webb and Mrs. Uzcadum?
All Titanic stories are basically the same. You put a group of people with personal problems on the doomed ship, and portray them as coping with there problems without knowing they are doomed, and then as coping with their problems knowing they are doomed.
