favorite classic horror film

i really don't know why, but there's just something about Creature from the Black Lagoon that makes it a good old horror movie. anyone else feel this way?

PS. my nickname for the creature is 'Froggy'!

He came from outer space, to save the human race...

The Creature is my favorite because of the way the movie was filmed. Incredible underwater scenes and the portrayal of the creature on land causing havoc was awesome. The fear in people's eyes! It was also nice to see his gills move while gasping for air out of the water.

Oh yes, this was a real scary event for a 9 year old to see. I saw it in the theater and still remember that night! I knew the creature was coming out of my closet to get me. I still check to make certain the closet is closed when I go to bed.

Has the creature come out of your closet yet?

I wouldn't necessarily say that this is my favorite classic horror film (that award would go to the Bela Lugosi Dracula), but Creature from the Black Lagoon certainly ranks up there in the group of "classic Universal horror films" alongside Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman and The Mummy. Creature had a certain feel to it that made it scary yet mesmerizing to watch at the same time. The plot is quite frightening and I hope that should this movie be remade one day the original is treated with respect.

Oh yes - one of my all-time favorites - I probably watch it at least once a year and have probably seen it 20-30 times since the mid-60s.

Those of you who think you know everything should politely defer to those of us who actually do!
