Last pilot just died at age 95

He was a New Zealander named less Monro. I haven't seen this movie in many years, but I have no patience with people who apply present standards to historical events. The term *beep* was not considered offensive at that time, certainly not the way it is today. The idea that innocent people were killed as a result, shows how how little people today understand total war. I pray to God that we never experience it again, but the way civilization is breaking down it is likely. Things like the Geneva Convention only work when both sides observe them. The only reason both sides observe them is because of self interest. I will treat my prisoners well because you were treating your prisoners well. I won't hide fighters & weapons in civilians centers causing civilian losses as long as you do the same. There are good reasons why the Geneva Convention requires soldiers to wear identifiable uniforms, if they don't they are not protected. It seems that so many of the "fighters" today have as a subset of their mission generating casualties among their own civilians.
