Is this going to be a British version or an American version? I presume with Frost re-making it it will be made in Britain. However if the Americans do it prepare for History to be rewritten. DO I have to remind everyone of U571!

Nothing can better the original starring Richard Todd(who is actually Irish, but who cares!).
If the Americans have anything to so with the remake history will be rewritten as usual. That will be a travesty and an insult to the real Dambusters. Guy Gibson will probably be played by someone like Mel Gibson.

Man, why is everyone always so touchy when it comes to the subject of a Dambusters remake? I love the original film and have for years but I don't see what why a re-make couldn't be done. Why on earth would David Frost put an American in the lead role for starters? To make it popular in the States? Look at the Hary Potter franchise. Not a single American in sight.

David Frost is as British as they come and I'm sure that he wouldn't want to mess up a proud piece of British history such as this. Also comments about 'history being re-written' make me smile. The 1955 version is actually very unauthentic, the problem is that people tend to take the movie as being the gospel truth which it isn't.

Another aspect of modern movie making has to be the special effects. We've all seen what can be achieved with CGI (Pearl Harbour) and I personally can't wait to see Operation Chastise recreated with modern day effects.

Let's get behind this project and put a little trust in Sir David. There could be a stunning BRITISH warfilm coming our way soon.

Well, we'll see when the "Remake" comes out...if it ever does. Then there will be much discussion on its board, I'm sure!

It can't be done.

One reason. It has to have the dog in it.

And what was the dogs name...???

*beep*

reply

Hi Edward.
Of course the dog's name was *beep*
The story line has that as the code word to be "radioed" if/when the Moehne (See - Zee)was breached.
Correct ?
I have my home video of the peaceful Moehne lake on a lovely Sunday arvo during my self-drive around Europe in '95. Yachts and all !
A rather weird feeling.

In our local Daily Telegraph in Sydney this morning (8/5/06) an article states Peter Jackson is preparing to remake The Dambusters! - with his access to funding, wonderful special effects and a carefully chosen cast of young men - the air crews were all in their twenties remember! - no Brad or Mel in this one - it could be an excellent movie.
What do you think!
