Burmese women's clothes

Anna and her sister, who had survived the horrible march from Rangoon, are exquisitely and immaculately attired in every scene, always with a different, perfectly fitted and pressed outfit. I doubt there was a couture dressmaker in that village. And where did Anna get the funds for clothes when they depended on canned food from the airbase?

You would think the film clothes designer would realize that these women would be dressed far more simply, as was the Scots woman, and NOT elegantly.
