Shortest 3+ hours movie ever?

It does not drag at any point.
I've seen 2 hours long movies and shorter that feel twice as long.

Yes, it truly touts that Asian cinema belief in full entertainment. I was personally shocked that it was so entertaining the first time I saw it, even funny.

But what got to me most about Seven Samurai, when I first saw it, was the picture quality. It had to be the same film stock as Cool Hand Luke, both of which look like they were just shot on a brand new camera.

That Cool Hand film stock is, of course, the same size as IMAX film stock. It's enormous and the picture quality is insane.

can't agree. the plot was very thin for such a long movie. at least it didn't drag as much as tarkovsky's stalker.

reply

What? Stalker is his most accessible film after Ivan's Childhood. You'd HATE Solaris then.

reply

didn't hate solaris, didn't love it either. i thought it was slightly more interesting than stalker. haven't seen ivan's childhood yet.

reply

If it had been even longer, I would love it all the more for that. It's a movie with the richness of a classic novel.

reply

Definitely. It's remarkable how you don't even notice the time passing when you watch this movie.

reply

Completely agree. The time just flies by.
