ok, i'm watching the movie right now with my friend, and i just wanted to know, is that really marilyn monroe singing all her songs? because it's so much deeper than her speaking voice. and i know that in trivia it says that on the album it's not her, but in the actual movie. i dunno, just curious i guess. thanks!

Thats definitely Marilyn singing all her songs - there's a cd with all her vocals on the Varese Sarbande label.

Marilyns voice was deeper? I always thought her natural speaking voice was quite high and she lowered it. in her Merryman interview, it his quite high

I have a few Marilyn lps, and her singing voice is a bit deeper. She actually has a very nice voice.

Marilyn had a very nice singing voice.

In answer to the person who said it is not her singing on the original album. Thi could be because her recording studio would not allow it. The same thing happened to "Rosemary Clooney" on "White Christmas", she had to be replaced on the album by "Peggy Lee"

Dolores Gray sang on the cast album because MM had a record contract that conflicted in some way...strange. Anyway, it's her in the movie and she always sang her own songs. In the early part of her career, she affected a huskier singing style. Later, in "Some Like It Hot" and "let's Make Love" she went breathier. But it was always her. Her speaking voice was rather high, in fact I think you hear her real voice in "The Prince and the Showgirl" (a brilliant performance, by the way) I don't judge by the Meryman tapes because she is obviously medicated and having some drinks during that interview.
