Marilyn's Leading Men

It's been mentioned on here a few times the incongruity of Marilyn's character falling in love with Donald O'Conner, and I agree. That got me to thinking that considering that Marilyn was the top sex symbol of her era, she hardly ever got a leading man of the same caliber. For instance:

Let's make love - Yves Montand
Bus Stop - Don Murray
Seven Year Itch - Tom Ewell
How to marry a millionaire - David Wayne
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - Tommy Noonan
Don't Bother to Knock - Richard Widmark
We're Not Married - David Wayne again
Clash by Night - Keith Andes

Now you might say you think some of these guys are handsome or good actors, but let's face it, none of them have the star power or attractiveness of Monroe.

She did have Robert Mitchum in River of No Return, which was a good pairing and of course she starred with an aging Clark Gable in the Misfits. But I would have loved to have seen her with William Holden, Kirk Douglas, Gregory Peck, or Glenn Ford.
