I definitely second that! Super-top-notch! #1 Shakespearean performance ever. I can't possibly imagine a better Richard! I actually sympathized with him and was rooting for him, even though he was soooo slimy and horrid...which is REALLY a testament to how awesome the performance was. At the end you realize "wait a minute! he died! this is good!"

I didn't see any kind of deformaty on Richard in the movie. I liked his charm and humour so much that I might not have noticed. I guess charm=handsome to me lol. Does anyone recall seeing any deformaty on Richard?

Haha, I know Richard didn't look too bad to ME! There were some bits where his shoulder hump was pretty noticeable, and his left hand was all deformed in some scenes too, quite visibly. I didn't pay too much mind to those, however. I definitely had other things on my mind lol.
I remember thinking "wow i bet shakespeare intended richard to be this drooling, unibrow mess of a human" but i guess in the 50's (and even today) some people don't generally want to spend 2 hours looking at someone who's really really gross. So I guess Larry decided to pretty him up a bit for the sake of keeping cinemagoers interested. If the trailers had said: "See the magnificently handsome Laurence Olivier...as a 'lump of foul deformity'!!!" the interest might not have run so high.
