'too weak to move'

As an RN, I had to laugh at the doctor pronouncing Bacall's character as "too weak to move," and they could take her to the hospital in the morning. Even in the 50s that is what ambulances were for.

It amde a very transparent set-up for her being in the house when her drunken husband returned. This movie is quite the soap opera.

And then the doctor just leaves! If one is "too weak to move," wouldn't it be vital to get to the hospital immediately?

Poor Rock Hudson (Ron Kirby) falls off a cliff in Sirk's "All That Heaven Allows" and he wasn't taken to the hospital either.

Sorry, but, Lauren Bacall's character in the movie was from Indiana, not Texas. Also, Robert Stack's character was a man with very little Texas character in him. He basically sucked at being a man.
