Ward's hairy chest

Just noticed in one of his rare, not-wearing-a-suit-and-tie. The top button of his shirt was undone, and he seemed to have quite the pectoral rug.

reply

Wow what episode is this, I don't remember seeing any part of Ward's body

reply

Only saw a bit of the episode so I don't know what the storyline was. He wasn't shirtless; just wearing a casual shirt with the top button undone.

Back in the Golden Age of Hollywood, men were required to have shaved chests if they went shirtless.
Can you imagine Tarzan running around the jungle clean-shaven?
IRL, he probably looked more like Cheetah, LOL.

Personally, I don't like body hair.
Reminds me too much of our simian ancestry.

About Tarzan running in the jungle clean shaven, that would be very interesting to see that. But what would he save with, if I am remember from the Disney movie he is clean shaven on his face.

reply

Check out the old Tarzan movies starring Johnny Weissmueller, Lex Barker, Gordon Scott, etc.
You'll see that they are all clean shaven with short hair.
Even Elmo Lincoln (film's first Tarzan) did not have facial hair.

I will check them out on Netflix at some point and depending on their aviable on dvd, which one do you think I should start with first and why?

reply

Didn't Tarzan use a flint rock to rub down the hair on his face and chest so that he would look different from the apes that he knew he was superior to?
I think that this is brought up in the original book.

Oh, and about Ward's "exposition", You can see his hairy chest in the episode "Beaver's Fortune" (season 3).

I would suggest starting with TARZAN THE APE MAN, the first of the Weissmueller Tarzan movies, followed by its even better sequel TARZAN AND HIS MATE.
