Location of Gidget's house- Santa Monica

The real home used for the outside of Gidget's movie house is at:
267 18th Street, Santa Monica CA.

Sometime around 1963, the house was replicated on the Burbank backlot ranch of Columbia Pictures. The blueprints were flipped and a reverse design facade was attached to an existing garage (the garage was often seen on the TV's "Hazel" 1961-63).

Starting in 1964, "Samantha" used the facade as her TV home on "Bewitched".

In 1965-66, TV's Gidget lived in another fake house on the backlot - but often passed/visited the reversed replica of the original Gidget home.

The Bewitched house aka "the reversed Gidget" house was later used for Gidget's TV residence on "The New Gidget" (1986-88).

Thank you, pantheonzeus, for that very interesting posting about the location of the 'Gidget' house. As I watched the movie on TCM tonight, I wondered where the house was, it didn't look like a back lot. It was great to see your post on IMDb. I just did a google earth search and it took me around the corner from the front of the house, to the side of the house with the garage on Georgina Ave. It almost looks like two houses and I was confused until I went around the corner and saw the front of the house and it looks as it did in the movie. And it does look like the 'Bewitched' house, one of my favorite Hollywood back lot houses! Thanks so much for sharing all the info in your post.
