just wondering
Does Moondoggie really sing or is he just lipsyncing? And if he is who does the singing?

shareYes that is James Darren, "Moondoggie", really singing. I had a big crush on him then, when he was on Time tunnel through TJ Hooker and now.

YEAH! He does really sing! ^.^ Good, huh? And he sings on Gidget Goes to Rome too! He's great! I have a REALLY big crush on him. Well.. the way he was back then, haven't seen him lately... but i'm sure he probably looks a lot older.. I liked him back then. HE WAS DEFF. HOT! ^.^

He also sings on Gidget Goes Hawaiian. He had a great voice!
shareI believe Moondoggie really does sing in the film. He has a great voice.
shareJames Darren is a talented singer, he still performs! He sang in all three Gidget films. My younger sister has a monster crush on him - that's what I get for showing her the movies!!
shareYes, James Darren was really singing, but most likely what you have noticed is the "recorded" sound. I would guess the songs were recorded in a studio and not inserted very well in the foley process. I wondered the same thing at first, but it is him singing.
shareYes, James Darren did sing in all three original Gidget movies. He's still singing today. I just returned from seeing him perform in Las Vegas. I've been a lifelong fan (since 4 years old!) and it's still a treat to see him perform. In the Las Vegas show, he did a tribute to the first Gidget movie and Sandra Dee, showing scenes from the movie on a screen behind him while he sang "There's No Such Thing as the Next Best Thing to Love." I took my 16-year-old son and he was enthralled. (He is actually named after James Darren's "Time Tunnel" character -- Anthony Newman.) Tony is already planning a return trip to Las Vegas in November, when James Darren is appearing again.
shareI may go see him in Ocean City New Jersy in June. I have his two most recent albums he sounds (and looks) great. I liked Tony Newman too.
