How was this filmed?

I was just watching the making-of documentary (the one that was included on the VHS in the mid-90s) on youtube and while I always knew animated movies were drawn by hand back in the day, I never stopped to consider how they were then transferred to film. In the documentary, they mentioned several times how it was "filmed in 70mm technorama," and so now I'm imagining a camera guy aiming a camera at a stack of hand-drawn pictures while another guy sits off to the side & flips through them like one of those flip books. But I know that's not true. Does anyone know how it WAS filmed?

It's an educated guess, but Sleeping Beauty was most likely filmed on a multiplane camera. The background artwork and ink-and-painted character animation cel drawings were stacked on an individual panel and carefully photographed frame-by-frame. After that was laboriously done, the film was transferred over to be processed onto 70mm Technirama film stock.

What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

How all animated movies were filmed: one frame at a time.

Let's be bad guys.
