White Indians

The older I get, the harder it is for me to watch films with white actors portraying Native Americans. I have enjoyed John Russell, Ray Danton and Andra Martin in other roles, but not here. It's embarrassing.

You are ignorant, when it comes to the motion picture industry. Many Amerinds
were employed by White Hollywood filmmakers, who invented the entire process of
the camera,lighting,writing...all of it.
Floyd"Red Crow" Westerman,my cousin,grew wealthy...and many others were used
by Caucasian movie people.
Since the 70's Will Sampson was a film giant...helped by Whites.
Since 1980,dozens of Amerind actors have been used by the White Man.
Rodney Grant,Graham Greene,Russell Means,Wes Studi,Tantoo Cardinal and legions
of others. My friend Clint Walker is part Cherokee,Burt Reynolds and James Garner.
I am Caucasian and Amerind and proud to be White.
Know the facts,my brother.White Hollywood has helped us all.
Yellowstone Kelly....I give it a 10.

Kind of harsh werent you? He didnt say that no Amerinds enjoyed employment in the movie industry just that its frustrating to see Caucasians playing the principle parts. Parts that should have gone to even more Amerinds. Then again these 1950's movies can hardly be thought of with authenticity. Hollywood wanted movie tickets sold and being authentic had nothing to do with it.

You might be a native american but is there a reason why you write in a style of how a caricature native american speaks?

I saw this with my gandmother when she came to visit; we laughed at that too (we did enjoy the movie though)

Couldn't care less. Lots of Anglo and Hispanic actors have done great work playing American Indians. No problem. It's acting. One of the best "Indians" in all of cinema and tv was Michael Pate, a Caucasian Australian.
