Wrong title?

I love this movie (probably because of Woody Strode) but every time I see it I think a more apt title would be "Captain Buffalo." That's the song the black soldiers sing to honor Sgt. Rutledge.
Oddly enough, key in "Captain Buffalo" as a title on the IMDB search and sure enough, "Sergeant Rutledge" comes up.

Maybe Captain Buffalo was a previously considered title. Or perhaps Sergeant Rutledge shows up because the song title is in the listing. But Sergeant Rutledge is the title the film had when shown in theaters--I have an original lobby card.

That would have been a great title.

I just saw this movie again. Strode's performance is really strong. Definitively Oscar material. One of the best supporting performances I can remember. By the way, the title of this film is Spain was: "El Capitán Búfalo". This is also one of the 10 best films about Court Martials, even though one does not think about it in that way. Right up there with Breaker Morant or the Caine Mutiny or Paths of Glory or Umbecoming Conduct.

Watched until Rutledge cried when he testified that he was a man, then fell asleep. Please tell me how it ends, but I don't know how to put "spoilers" in the title, so please do so.

I didn't think this was a great movie, but it was entertaining. I appreciate any help.
