Re:
Bill Holden`s trademark true gentle sweetness, tenderness, compassion and vulnerability come shining through in THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG. Bill has given better performances in other films(STALAG 17,PICNIC,SUNSET BOULEVARD,NETWORK,THE WILD BUNCH )but he is also excellent in TWOSW and Robert Lomax is a role he is perfectly suited for.TWOSW is one of my favorite Bill Holden films and his performance as Robert Lomax is a special favorite.

Watched it again for the 2nd time in 40 years last Saturday afternoon on Channel 5 (UK). It is still as good as all my memories always reminded me.

Just noticed several possible goofs in the film, and hope some "old timers" from Hong Kong can confirm it for me.

1. When Robert went to the police station to report Suzie missing and asked for help to find her, the British policeman sitting behind the desk seemed to be dressed in the dark blue winter uniform. Given the lethal typhoon that was closing in, the time of this happening must be in the summer instead of winter.

2. When Robert and Suzie rushed to the hillside in the rain storm to see what they could do, Robert asked a British policeman in a sergeant's uniform about who's in charge of the rescue operation. If I remember correctly, the lowest rank for a British policeman in Hong Kong at that time was probationary inspector, a grade above sergeant.

3. The hillside rescue operation had the British Forces personnel taking part, which was uncommon. The people other than the police and ambulance that would be on duty there should be the CAS (Civil Aid Service) members.
