Buying DVD. Which is the best issue?

Hello,

I look after a DVD where the original French voice and subtitles in French, English (maybe also Swedish) are available.

The problem is that different DVD issues are available (Amazon) but people are complaing about the quality of image in the remastering and about subtitles (different issues).

Grateful for opinions or ideas about which issue to choose.

If you have the money, then get the criterion edition which is out of print but you can still buy from a third party. The criterion release is pretty amazing, loaded with extras like they always do.

C-C-C-Combo Breaker!

Just kidding. In all seriousness, it's hard to beat Criterion on any of their releases. On a film such as this, it's probably best to go with it because of it's sheer rarity.

If at all possible go with the Criterion blu-ray. It's the definitive release of this film (and one of Criterion's best releases ever, imo). It includes two audio options - restored and original.

I'm thinking you're European, in that case the only sensible choice is the rB Blu-ray released by StudioCanal that has French audio and subs, plus a lot of other subs including Swedish. The Criterion BD is rA (USA/Canada) locked.
