The Location
Where was Last Year at Marienbad filmed? I'm particularly interested to know what structure was used for the spa, and if the statue of the woman, man and the dog is a real entity, and if so, where it is.
shareIt was actually not filmed at the Marienbad spa in Checkoslovakia. In fact, the chateau presented as "Marienbad" is actually three different palaces in Germany. Resnais shot footage in all three locations, and edited them together to create an impossible reality that exists only within the bounds of the film. Someone once compared it to an Escher piece come to life. You can find the filming locations listed on the left menu (for any film) under "Other Info"
As far as the identity and subsequent fate of the statue, I'd be curious to learn that myself. I like to think it's still being moved around the garden of the Nymphenburg Palace, just to keep the residents thinking.

Yes, like you I am quite interested in finding the location / identity / fate of the statue. I'll have to ring my friend in Heidelberg and see if he's up for an adventure!
In fact, the chateau is never "presented as Marienbad". The Marienbad in the title is never said in the movie, as far as I could fathom, to be the place where the action (or the lack of it) takes place. In fact, the two caracters can never really agree on just where it was they met the year before, or indeed if they ever met at all. :-)
