Believe it or not, but that was slang.

Yeah, back in the 1960's, calling someone "Daddy" was like someone today calling someone "dawg".

I honestly think deep in the future, people will be laughing at our generation for calling each other "dawg". Hell, I laugh at it now, lol.

Sheds new light on the Steve Buscemi character in Fargo saying, "Whoa, daddy..." and typical of the Coen's use of archaic slang in some of their movies.

Common slang of the era. Usually a derogatory greeting from a young hipster to an older adult male.
