What a great thriller!

I saw this a while back but only remembered that there was no comparison to the remake, which I thought was awful!

I was on the edge of my seat munching popcorn like it was a great Hitchcock movie. I thought the score was great, too. I tried to find out who wrote it but couldn't. Reminded me of the score from Psycho a bit.

Robert Mitchum was so fantastic. I loved him in Night of the Hunter, too. Robert Osborne on TCM said Gregory Peck wanted "his neighbor" Bob Mitchum for the part, while Rod Steiger's agent wanted him and thought Mitchum couldn't carry it. Osborne also said Mitchum didn't get the recognition he deserved while he was alive, which is sad. I think he was fantastic in lots of roles

I yelled at the stupid girl for running into the empty school as one poster mentioned--also the weak way she held that fireplace poker, then dropped it!

I could go on and on! What an exciting movie!!! (And OMG Gregory Peck is SOOOOO gorgeous!)
