Is the unrated original version on DVD?

I don't know if that's what they sell or not, I was just wondering :) I think it would be interesting to see the original version.

What "original version" are you talking about? I'm not aware of any alternate version of this film. Also, it was released prior to MPAA's rating system, so what you see on DVD, TCM or whatever is an unrated version (sometimes, older films are submitted for ratings long after the fact, mainly for theatrical re-release).

I think what rainbowgal is talking about is the "uncut" version that shows more of Cady leering at Bowden's daughter from the boat dock and also more from the scene of Cady and Peggy in the boathouse, they had to cut some of those scenes because of censorship but a full version was released somewhere outside the US.

I was wondering about this too and would also like to see it but I don't know where or if it can be purchased.

Yeah, I'm talking about the uncut original version. I'm not sure what would be on the original though, so I don't know if what I have is the uncut original or not, lol.

Ah, okay. Then you probably know more than I do. I've heard of those scenes, but I always assumed they left them on the cutting room floor, as was typical of the era, never to be seen again. I didn't know they ever released an alternate overseas version (this happened with "Strangers on a Train", so it's not out of the question for the time period). So, are there prints of those scenes still in existence? That would be cool to see.

The version on the DVD I have is the original US release. No "uncut" scenes.
