Gregory Peck

I think Gregory Peck is very good in this movie. He shows a lot of strength and determination in a part that could easily have been much weaker.
Mitchum is great, but I feel that Peck matches him blow for blow throughout the movie wich makes it an exciting dynamic.

Although I prefer Scorsese's version I really appreciate the fine acting, writing and directing in this, and it`s interesting to compare the two.

A solid piece of filmmaking!

The acting in both these movies is really great.

Gregory Peck definatly stands out as the best between mitchum, Bobby, and Nick Nolte... He plays such a believable Sam. He acts like the scrawny lawyer so well, you would not even know that he is a taller and larger man the Mitchum, just like Nick Nolte is a lot bigger than Robret De Niro.

It's just great acting when the bigger guys can play the lawyers and the smaller guys can play the physically scary ex-convicts.

Yeah, I totally agree...The acting by De Niro and Nolte is so good that it's ridiculously funny at times.
I've never seen a better performance by Nick Nolte - He's on fire.
The fast cutting and the intensity of the performances really made me laugh out loud more and more towards the end. An extremely entertaining and well-made picture, and De Niro and Scorsese just puts it all out there!

i would hardly say bob mitchum was a small man!! he was 6ft 1 inch, and also with a barrel chest and big build, i wouldn't call him small
