Joe's boss didn't help things either

I just caught this - so he gives Joe lots of passive-agressive grief for trying to bypass an alcohol-soaked party (on the sheik's yacht?) after the long date with Kirsten, then later yanks him from an account?

I know Joe wasn't capable of doing this sort of thing and knowing when to quit, but his boss wasn't helpful either. The wrong line of work (and boss) for Joe. A mess all way round.

When the boss transfered him to a job in TX, it was pretty clear to me that that was the last straw with the company, and i think to Joe,

Wrong line of work, who knows?

Did I miss something near the end? Joe said he was working steady and was able to start paying back his father-in-law. But I don't recall anyone saying what kind of job he had.

It seemed to me that his boss actually pulled him off the "shiek" account and put him on an even better one. It was a few years later when he took Joe off the Texas account because he and his wife's alcoholism was getting in the way of him doing the job. His boss gave him a shot, and he blew it.
