Why isn't this in the top 250?

it should be

It's not a movie about a rich guy in a rubber bat suit, so most of IMDb couldn't care less.

Haha! I'm normally adverse to having a dig at IMDB users (if I did I'd be no better off), but that above post is to true for words. Unfortunatly, the top 250 means jack because morons will essentially vote anything as the best so long as it's new.

P.S. The Dark Knight is an amazing film, however certainly doesn't warrant a place above films like The Godfather.

Because it's too good. I'd say about 35% of the IMDb top 250 is legitimate, the rest is junk put there by people who don't know better.

Play the game existence 'til the end...of the beginning...

I saw this when I was younger. It impressed me then. I never understood why people passed it by so much. Save the Tiger was a much more famous movie for Jack Lemmon. I just don't think Save the Tiger was as good as this movie.

I'm always surprised when I see a classic that (most) other people miss. I guess I always think I'm the one in error. Not anymore. I have a few films under my belt and know a great one when I see one! Perhaps a bit eclectic in my choices.

But not with this movie. It's a classic.

As far as the Top 250, take a look at some of the movies in that list. It's not "consistent" in any way. Just reflects the web and the many diverse members of imdb. Not to say there aren't any great movies in it. I believe that given 100 people who each give a list of their 250 top movies, you'd have an awful lot of movies in that list.

Nice to have some that I don't know of also. More variety to try to watch and fill in the missing pieces!

Movies are like postcards. Little bits of nostalgia that get lost in someone's drawer.
