Tearrrrrrrr

Seeing Jack Lemmon cry was so depressing, I cherish his amazing laugh...
This movie was phenomenal. I'm a huge Jack Lemmon fan, but have only seen his comedies from the 50s-60s- all of them (plus 'The China Syndrome'). So glad I picked this one up. He, as well as the rest of the case, were amazing.

There are more things one has a hard time associating with the Lemmon persona - it felt quite weird and almost... indecent to hear him extensively use the word "f-ck" in Glengarry Glen Ross.

I agree, franzkabuki. It is really bizarre for me also whenever I hear him swear (which obviously occurred in later movies). And as a huge Lemmon fan myself, it is hard to associate that kind of character with his innocent, more sweeter characters in his 1950s/60s films.

He was overall fantastic in Days of Wine and Roses - but the scenes whenever he cries are so upsetting. I adore his manic laugh and that marvellous smile.

~ Days of Wine & Roses was a beautiful, and bittersweet movie. The performances was unforgettable. This is one of my favorite dramas of Jack Lemmon.

Jack admitted that he liked to swear a lot IRL. (Read that in a "Premiere" magazine interview back in the late '80s or early '90s; don't recall why the subject came up.)

^Yes indeed, and I vaguely remember reading what he said his favourite swear words were! Unrepeatable to say the least!

Actually I have seen Save the Tiger (1973) and I thoroughly enjoyed his performance; just as much as I thought he was still phenomenal in Days of Wine and Roses (1962). Just upsets me that all - so that shows just how much of a friggin' awesome performance he gave then! I'm just more used to his wonderful comedies of his lovely everyman characters.
