Is it different watching it now knowing jack lemmon was an alcoholic?

I think some people have a hard time with jack in the role because he was known as a funny man. Is there anyone who saw this before they knew he was an alcoholic in real life that views it differently now?

No but it makes his performance in Glengary Glen Ross make sense.
