Great

I had put this film on at 10pm on a work night and seeing it was 2 hours long, I didn't think I would be able to stay awake to watch it all. I was wrong. The film was great and I was enthralled the whole way through. I really felt for Joe and I was crying for him at one point.

I think Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick did amazing jobs.

Yes, I have just watched Save The Tiger for the first time and, although I thought Jack was great in it, I think the story and film was a bit flimsy. Days of Wine & Roses is definately a better film and a better performance.

I couldn't agree more. This is a superb film with great acting and an ending that is shocking because it is so real and unexpected - especially at the time the film was made. And to Short Legs I would also agree that SAVE THE TIGER is a good but not great film with great acting. The film is deliberately paced but it seems to go nowhere after the first half hour. Basically it just keeps repeating itself over and over. Still watchable but not great.

This film with it's theme and romance and touching reality grabs my heart each time I see it. How bitter-sweet is it when Joe is bouncing on the bed having fun and yet we know it's a big disaster, his fun is from the booze which he (and she) can't control? The hope offered by AA (or other such groups) is the major message of this classic. Kirsten still has a chance, at the end, and I don't give up on her completely--but it's more likely she won't stop. Great storytelling/filmmaking.
