Movie became so dated only a year later when the Beatles came to America

This movie was so dated so fast when the Beatles arrived in 1964. It's really hard to believe this came out only about 8 months before the Beatles arrived in the U.S. and one year before "Hard Day's Night".

Good point! It was at a pivotal time, culturally and historically. JFK assassination was right in there too.

Get the facts first - you can distort them later!

I actually look at it as a time capsule. As the other poster said, everything changed, and this is kind of like the last example of the innocent 50's before EVERYTHING changed very dramatically. That song "What's the Matter With Kids Today"... they had no idea of what would be happening. Within the span of a few years there was the assignation of JFK, The Hippy movements, The Vietnam war, and the music and the fashion...it all changed so rapidly. Within 5 years, those same parents would be wishing the kids were like the kids from this movie. Within 10 years, the T.V. show "Happy Days" had everyone wishing to go back to that time again.

Yes the degenerates took over

Well, the composers of BBB did allow radio stations to appropriate "we love you, Conrad" and change it to "we love you, Beatles".

Dated is good. Why would we want a movie about people in 1963 not to seem like 1963?

reply

Exactly. One reason to watch older films is for the illusion of time travel.
