"Now you See me" (2013) a modern day take on Judex?

Raised this last year when "Now you see me" came out, but having watched "Judex" (63) again I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the Judex character (in all his manifestations) and Leterrier's movie. Both have masked magicians who use magic to right wrongs done by unscrupulous and untouchable businessmen and to give justice and money to their victims. The character revealed at the end as the brains behind it all was even operating among his victims in disguise all the time just like Judex does.

As a pulp character he is not that well known so it would be easy for modern movies to get away with a bit of a lift. After all, they seem to openly steal from everything these days so it would be nothing new.

Maybe it's just my imagination but I am curious to see if anyone else has ever thought the same thing?

You may find similarities in the story but the quality of the story and cinematic telling could not differ more. Now You See Me is pedestrian; Judex is a very fine film painting.
