How come this movie is rated so highly? It's an OK film more like a 6-6.5 but no way up there in the "classic" Steve McQueen Bullitt, Sand Pebbles, Cincinnati Kid territory.

I thought it was excellent. I would rate it an 8/10. I was taken with it the first time i saw it, recently rewatched it again, and it still blows me away. The scene where she breaks down before getting the abortion and he has to comfort her, gives me chills

A rating is essentially a report: "this percentage of people thought it rated this many points out of ten".

How come it rated so highly? Because that's the average rating of the people who took time to rate it.

You could maybe have an interesting discussion with a person or two who saw the movie differently than you did. But there's no real way to argue with a mathematical report.
