was Natalie the favorite to win the oscar?

was just wondering if Natalie Wood was the favorite to win the oscar that year? based on who did and didn't win all the awards leading up to the oscars, who was the favorite? who was all the buzz and talk about as to who critics and the movie industry felt would win? think if Patricia Neal hadn't won for Hud, that the oscar would've been Natalie's or would it have gone to someone else?

If she was, she would win. But she didn't. Unfortunately.

not necessarily true, the favorites to win don't always win

patricia neal won for what was actually a supporting role in "hud". this should have been natalie's oscar-winning role. but, alas, it wasn't.

Out of the mouth of a 17 year old who knows NOTHING about the topic of which she posts.
You have no way of knowing who would have won the Oscar.
Natalie was one of the most successful actresses of that decade.
She did not "bail out of the industry". What a stupid thing to say!
Natalie was nominated for a New York Film Critic Award for Proper Stranger.
