Which story did you enjoy the most?

This film had such a wonderful cast!!!
I always enjoy wacthing all three
stories. Especially, Vincent Price!
If I had to choose one as my favorite,
I would pick Dr. Heidegger's Experiment.
My heart went out to Carl, because all
he wanted was to look and feel young again,
and bring Sylvia back to life.

My favorite was also the first one, the whole movie was good but after that it was all downhill.

"Dr. Heidegger's Experiment" - 10
"Rappaccini's Daughter" - 8.5
"The House of the Seven Gables" - 8
Twice-Told Tales (1963) - 9

Dr. Heidegger, definitely. The relationship between Sebastian Cabot and Vincent Price makes the episode work. The others feel relatively mechanical by comparison. I mean, I love spooky haunted house stuff, but the "Seven Gables" episode is something that seems cool only when you're a kid; as an adult, it's just hokey (although still enjoyable in its own weird campy way, I suppose).

My favorite tale is the second; "Rappacchini's Daughter". It's also is one of the few horror tellings that ever managed to frighten me with its content. This particular tale is haunting, saddening and petrifying all at once! No matter how selfish and monstrous the crimes of Price's character are, he's a hurt soul and you're more likely to pity him rather than to loath him. The flower garden, where most of the story is filmed, is truly enchanting and Joyce Taylor is simply mesmerizing as the poor Beatrice. The tragic climax to this tale could have come straight from Shakespeare's repertoire. Wonderful stuff!

The second is the best for a number of evident reasons : well-crafted & compelling.

The first one is nifty, but the 3rd has an inherent weakness to it.Its a tad jarring and almost seems out of place. However,it is a good cast.

You're not the only one, Immalee! I loved House of the Seven Gables, and I've been known to skip straight to it when I have the DVD on. I love the book, and of course this is nothing like the book, but somehow I don't care! I just love the cast in this version, and although its full of cheese, it's still got a great ending.

"Rappaccini's Daughter" was my favorite of the three episodes. It's sad, touching and genuinely spooky, with charming performances by Joyce Taylor and Brett Halsey as a couple of doomed young lovers. Vincent Price is likewise superb as Taylor's monstrously domineering and overprotective father. And the tragic ending is positively heartbreaking.

I liked the first one the most, followed by the second, then the third. Though the last tale (House of Seven Gables) did pick up in the end. All in all, a pretty good horror movie!
