The Warlock in the Gray Flannel Suit

One of my personal faves of the last season, despite how uninspired it is (and how ridiculous
that Endora would hire a HIPPIE warlock to out-smart Darrin, so he'd be fired, and therefore
free to go to Panda's wedding. Uh, yeah). Bernie Koppel just makes this episode for
me, as does David White and Charles Lane (despite how over-used he was in this final
year).

HOWEVER...I think Darrin's refusal to go was small indeed, and Endora's behavior was
uniquely justified. Unlike most other fans, I tend to side with Darrin, as I find him brave
in his stance against a rude, disrespectful woman.

Also, because they were soooooo into the woman's movement by 1971, I think it would've
been refreshing if Darrin asked Sam to call Endora in the tag and say something like,
"Endora, in spite of your otherwise outrageous behavior...I agree that Sam should be in
attendance at Panda's wedding. I will take next weekend off. Larry will agree, especially
for you." Endora would've been delighted, and it would've been a truly refreshing close
to an aging show.

Thoughts?

I agree 100% GB. I thought it would have been great for him to have done that. Or, he at least could have said "Sam, why don't you go with your mother. Have fun!"

I noticed that at the end of this episode when I recently rewatched it, they don't actually resolve the question of whether or not Darrin and Sam will go to the wedding, and Endora never reappears. So in my mind, I like to think he realized the error of his ways, and agreed that they could go. I do like the stuff with "Flurpity Flurp" and the almost blank ad. I know they were meant to be nonsense, but it felt a little more creative than some of the slogans from other later episodes in season seven ("Put some fun in your home with Rockford Furniture"?!).
