The Skipper or Gilligan?

For what? A survival companion? Conversation about good books? Sex partner? The context needs to be stated.

The context is the same as when the question "Ginger or Mary Ann?" is asked. Why can an open ended comparison of two women be posited, but not two men? Objectification?

reply

Skipper or Gilligan makes no sense because they're not sex symbols. We all know that Mary Ann and Ginger are seen as sex symbols, so the question is fitting.

Now if say, Robert Redford and Tom Selleck had been the two actors, then maybe you could ask your question.

reply

But Mary Ann was not intended to be a sex symbol. Ginger was. That's why the comparison has because so iconic, because Mary Ann represents the girl-next-door's allure.

Neither the Skipper nor Gilligan are sex symbols. But I was looking at pics of Bob Denver when he played Maynard on "Dobey Gillis" and I was thinking "Damn, Gilligan was kinda cute".

Also, the Skipper would be considered the perfect type for gay men with a "bear" fetish. Lol.

But no, the men don't have to be sex symbols. You supply the context.

I think it's best not to think too hard about it.

Just answer the question. The Skipper or Gilligan?

reply

Yes I agree that Mary Ann was not a sex symbol, and the question between her and Ginger really comes down to "Hot Beauty Queen vs. Cute girl-next-door".

I'm not answering the Gilligan/Skipper question! That's a firm "NEITHER" from me!

And I never really had a thing for either Mary Ann or Ginger either. I was more of a "Julie Love Boat" and "Kristy McNichol" cute-girl type.

Gotta say, if I was stranded on a deserted island... I wouldn't bang either of them.

If I was picking a character I liked better, I've gotta go with Gilligan. Still like them both though.
