Anyone notice that 48 years after VTTBOTS's premiere, ABC has another submarine program on the air?
shareAnd NBC and Steven Speilberg did "Seaquest DSV" which was a modern take on VTTBOTS. A book on the making of "Seaquest DSV" mentions that they were looking for a Richard Basehart-like actor and found that quality in Roy "Jaws" Schieder.
Alot of the eps of "Seaquest" reminded me of either original "Star Trek" or "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea".
I am an Australian, LAST RESORT had some Aussie actors so I wanted to like it/support it, but my god, they could of done better than LAST RESORT if they wanted to do another submarine series.
The AXE seems to fall on these recent sub shows: first seaQuest, now RESORT.
Last Resort had great potential, but wasted too much time with the Island Warlord storyline. The Navy Seals would have eliminated that punk and his thugs the first time he abducted one of the subs crewman. Whatever issues they had with Captain would have been secondary to an outsider screwing with one of their own.
