Mr. Morton

I reckon Lt Commander Chip Morton was the unsung hero of the "Seaview".He was like the rational down the line guy when everything was getting loopy all around. He seemed to have wandered accidentally into "Voyage" from a more rational series.

Nope - I respectfully disagree - Chip was a good actor in this part and he was a great "familiar" friend each week that was a part of the Seaview family.

Most of the acting in this type of TV Sci-Fi show was a bit "stiff" during the 50's and 60's. In my estimation that does not always reflect on the actors alone. It also comes from direction and the era of production.

Watch the actors in shows like this - especially the good ones - show a range of emotions; fear, doubt, longing, and many more. Sometimes this acting seems a little "over the top" or even a little corny by our present era of "natural" acting.

I will agree some actors seem to always play the same character - no matter the movie they are in - possibly always playing themselves. However, an actor's abilities are not always shown in every part they play. Supporting actors are limited most times, but it does not mean they don't add to or truly support both the leads and the overall fulfillment of the shows premise.

What gives us the "feel" of a show that we really grow to like comes from many factors. Of course, the actors and acting are probably the greatest factors, and who we like and dislike is all a matter of personal feelings. Even when the acting is bad, someone will find some redeaming quality they like in a show or movie - "to each his own". Just another opinion...
