Crane/Nelson

I liked how Nelson and Crane were like father/son at times and others Crane knew how to really piss the admiral off. You could see it in the episode where Crane was struggling to complete his mission for his country whilst brainwashed by spies to sabotage the sub. It wasn't that he was messing up under pressure that was the problem, he aborted the mission without authority that had Nelson's face contorting. Had the writing and budget been stronger this would have been legendary thanks to the two leads.

Notice how Gene Roddenbery kinda picked up on that relationship when he made "ST: The Next Generation". Picard was like Adm. Nelson (a warrior/thinking man) and his 'Number One' aka Cmdr. Ryker was like Crane (less refined, and easily to make mistakes).
