Recommend best season, episodes

Hello,

I remember watching a few episodes of this programme in the 1970's, after it had long stopped running.

I am interested in rediscovering the show, but only the best season. What would that be, out of the 4 years the series ran? Some of the episodes were lousy, but was there a season where a majority or large number were very good?

IMHO, the second season had the best storylines and some interesting situations for the cast members. Also, the introduction of the flying sub (so storylines could take place at different locations within the episode) helped make year two (1965-66) by far the best season so far as variety of good mix SF and espionage plotlines.

Thanks! I will focus on the second season. In general though, I don't think this series was highly regarded when it was on, or now, long after it became defunct. Even though it had an innovative concept of adventures under the sea. As a kid, I don't recall anyone saying "I've got to see VTTBOTS tonight/this afternoon", whereas they would say that for Gilligans Island, Leave it to Beaver, Bewitched, Flintstones, and many more.

Hi! IMHO, the best episodes belong to season I. There are excellent episodes concerning cold war worries (Doomsday), great sci-fi samples like "The Sky is Falling" (an alien ship lands on the bottom of the sea by mistake and only Admiral Nelson's wisdom saves the world), "Craddle of the deep" (a biological experiment gone wrong), or even "Invincible man" (robot gone berserk). Out of 32 episodes, I would say I really liked 29. The black & white photography also adds a special look that I particularly find very attractive.

Thanks, I'll check these out. Yes, I like the idea of black and white episodes. In a way, it transports you back to that era, before colour TV really took off.
