Who were the two men in the bar listening to the BBC?


And why was it in a different language?
also why was the man/ german spy all tied up and bloody then they show him getiing paid. what was the point.

It is a while since I saw the film (it is not on dvd in the UK).

The German is tied up to fool the character played by JAMES GARNER into thinking he is an anti nazi but he is really a nazi agent.

As for listening to the BBC,the BBC was an important source of news for those in occupied europe who wanted to know the truth about how the war was going.
Listening to the BBC in occupied europe and nazi Germany was illegal but people still did it.

The BBC world service broadcasts in English to the world but it also had and has brodcasts in lots of languages.

So they broadcast to France in French and and to Germany in German and during the cold war in Russian and other languages to people behind the iron curtain.

Sadly the British government cut the funding to the BBC WORLD SERVICE so they have less influence in the fight against Islamic terror.
