Most beautiful scene ...

which I never paid any attention to before was when they were driven to Yuryatin in the summer for the first time. They were all in the sledge and their horse's foal came along with them. The foal was not tethered at all and ran freely along the road, sometimes in front of them and sometimes behind them. So beautiful to see.

There are many beautiful scenes in Dr. Zhivago...the one you named and the winter scenes of the house in the country are also extraordinary.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014... a tremendously great and talented actor.

Funny that you should mention that scene. It was seeing that very scene many years ago that made me realize just what is meant by calling a film an epic film in visual terms, and how David Lean specialized in that very presentation. It's all the more powerful coming after their having been cooped up on the train for so long.

^I find that the older I am, the more I appreciate scenes like that. I have seen the movie numerous times, but never noticed that beautiful scene before.

I totally agree. Absolutely wonderful scene.

Oh, yes, it's a gorgeous scene. The untethered foal beautifully expresses everyone's delight and hope for a better future.

Beautiful movie. I have the Blu-Ray version. The first time I played it I had to stop it during the scene where his mother was being buried. It was sincerely visual overload. It was such a treat to see it again, so beautifully presented.

The sunflowers dropping their petals in the makeshift hospital...

The sun breaking across the frosty cottage window...

The winter moon seen through the small window of the train car...

Yuri and Tonya riding a horse drawn carriage down the snow covered streets in a winter night interwoven with Lara confessing about her affair with Komarosky to Pasha in a candle lit room.

I saw this film a year ago and I am forgetting some of the most beautiful scenes of this film. Can't remember many of those.

I saw it last night and the one with the untethered foal was notable.

There are many other exceptional images in the movie, like the candlelit desk seen by Zhivago through the frosted window from the outside looking in.
