Lara's older daughter????

What ever happened to her? Did she die in Mongolia or got separated from her? It's never fully explained

I don't believe the book tells us either. But, Katya would have been around 17 at the time Yuri and Lara's child got lost in Mongolia; by then she would have been working or married herself so not necessarily with her mother -- although maybe she was nearby. Lara was apparently in the hospital with typhus or something similar when Tanya disappeared.

I've read the book, so...
It is said that Lara goes to Moscow not only to ask about her lost daughter, but to find a school for her older daughter as well. She left her behind with relatives or something, I'm not exactly sure. So when Lara is captured in Moscow, I guess she is left on her own back home.
