What happened to Amelia (Lara's mother)?

I have watched this movie several times and want to know what happened to her. She just dissapears and is never mentioned again. Does anyone have any interpretations?

she's seen at the train station sitting down with a cain... very weak. I gather that she just had been ill and died. not a big detail to the story. back then, people died left and right due to illnesses that we have modern medicines for now.

I believe that character you're describing is actually Tonya's mother, Anna. They later mention during the World War I part of the picture that her character died when Tonya reads Zhivago's letter to her father.

Yes, and that's why I assumed that Tonya named the baby Anna, after her late mother.

Kind of sad that Zhivago never even gets to meet his daughter - well, either of them. One is deported to France, while he doesn't even know that the other is on the way.

I've often wondered that myself. Perhaps it's in the Pasternak novel.
