Anyone else love this movie?
Is there anyone else out there that loves and appreciates this film as much as I do?

shareOh yes, I do. I saw this on TV in the '60s when I was 10 or 11 and although I didn't fully understand everything, it left a permanent impression on me. I've since seen it many times, and introduced its greatness to my film-buff 24-year old son. It's a masterpiece in every way.
shareYeah it is fantastic. Rod Steiger should have won best actor for his performance
shareThanks to Olive Films' new Blu-ray, I watched the film today for the first time (although I recall when it was playing a local theater when I was a youngster). Great film, I can't believe that it wasn't nominated for a boatload of awards.
shareYes, just finished watching it again tonight on TCM and it is a travesty that Rod Steiger did not win the Academy Award... Instead, Lee Marvin won for playing a drunk in Cat Ballou... go figure. What does that say about the Academy....
shareI have just seen it on TCM, but have remembered it for the several decades since I last saw it. The scene with the pregnant girl trying to pawn her engagement ring is one of the saddest things I have ever seen.
shareI agree. Very sobering and powerful
shareI just saw the movie for the first time last night on TCM. Powerful movie. Excellent in so many ways. I can't believe it didn't receive more awards. It seemed like an almost perfect movie - the cinematography, the music the acting of the minor characters besides the stellar performance of Steiger. I just can't say too many good things about it.
Who is Keyser Soze?
Steiger should of had that best actor oscar.
shareOne of the Top 3 of that year. Steiger should have won Best Actor. Loved Juano Hernandez, as well, as the old guy who liked to come in the pawnshop to talk.
shareThere are so many great things about this film, but I'd like to say that I love the editing. I really don't know much about editing, but there are so many places in the movie where I thought, "Man, that was perfect timing. It wasn't just the quick flashbacks, either - for example, there's a scene where the subway door slams shut that's really jarring because of the way it's cut.
