No, I got the same impression. I don't know exactly what the point was of making these characters gay, however.
shareWell, the whole movie was quite boundary-breaking, featuring so many Latino & Negro characters, plus the first real nudity in a major motion picture . . . why not add the suggestion that poof's are part of the city's population, too?
shareYeah with so many black people I feel the movie was well ahead of it's time. Very groundbreaking and a great film.
