cary grant's last movie

Cary Grant's last movie should have been charade - he wasn't playing cary grant in Father Goose or Walk Don't Run Although both movies were enjoyable he should have ended his career with his usual charming suave irresistibly debonair persona

Cary was whistling the theme music from "Charade" in this movie. Almost like indicating how much he enjoyed starring in that movie. In this movie, he ends up being a matchmaker. The role did not quite fit him when compared with his earlier films. While he did have a few good comedic scenes, the movie seemed like a disappointment being his last movie.

I liked him in this movie! :)

Ellery Queen (Jim Hutton) = sexiest man ever!

I thought Jim Hutton played his part in the movie, very well, but that someone else could have been chosen for the Cary Grant role. I thought Cary's best role was in Penny Serenade which he got an Oscar nomination (he should have won).

I liked Samantha Eggar in this as well. She was a lovely lady.

i just saw the film again and I've changed my mind - always thought he was great in the film now I think it was a perfect role for the older Cary Grant to say goodbye to his film career - He was perfection itself

He did a great job here. I like the fact that he didn't take himself too seriously. There were some jokes about his age, and he handled those well.

Interesting Grant chose this Role because He wanted to play an age appropriate part. He was tired of the Older Man chasing after Girls half His Age.

reply

This time, instead of playing an older man chasing after much younger women, he got to hear comments like "I thought he was a relative!"

Terrific movie.

The scene in the Movie where the Friend comes over and thinks nothing of an Older Man staying in the Apartment because, She thought He was a Relative. They would have done well to, keep quiet and let Her keep believing that.

reply

They didn't know that she thought that he was a relative until after Christine had given her an explanation.

In today's times, they would have been best off not saying anything at all. Back then, Christine's reputation was at stake.

She looked more surprised when She saw the younger Man there, but didn't say anything. Probably thought it best not to.

That's true.

I think it would have been a lot easier on everyone if Christine had just explained that she was accepting roommates. She could have told her fiance, her friends....she even had the ad posted in the place where he worked! But I guess if she had, then the story wouldn't have happened.
